Sorry I didn’t post much this week…
Ok so I have avoided them for a while, but now I have to finally admit the Jonas Brothers they are getting into my head.. I think it was Fearne Cotton that called them the new Hanson? Psh… well, the new Hanson or not I can’t help myself..
This photo is probably questionable. Thank goodness it wasn’t fashion week eh? (In fact, I’d hate to study the poster behind and make assumptions as to what this event actually was.. cough.. Hannah Montana? cough..) I’d say the clothes make more sense from right to left… but really… left; you hail from New Jersey, who are you kidding with the Alan Partridge look? This is probably wrong of me (on more than one level) but they are all fitties.. so I guess we can forgive the wardrobe choices. As I mentioned, they hail from New Jersey.. I’d say that place pumps out a few good sounds
I should probably be talking about their music. It’s pop, surely it can be nothing else? That is all I can muster, I’m afraid… they truly are the new Hanson, young voices and annoyingly catchy repetitive choruses.. I will let you make up your own minds..
I have stumbled upon a nice little acoustic sound from them, you might want to check that out…
MP3: Jonas Brothers – Burnin’ Up (Acoustic)
MP3: Jonas Brothers – Burnin’ Up (2:50 version)
That second MP3 isn’t the UK version I don’t think.. If memory serves me correctly, we do without the random sub-section of rapping
[EDIT: Ok scrap that, I am clearly talking rubbish... I just really don't remember that part... then again, I am pretty shattered :p ]
Hope you’re all well…

Ok ok, so this is an absouletly random mix of tunes, but who cares.. I went a bit retro with the first two… they are from a few different time scales, but enjoy.. And don’t question what I was thinking in posting these.
This could have almost been out yesterday, haha:
MP3: Boys Don’t Cry – I Wanna Be A Cowboy
This next ones for all those Phil Collins lovers. Myself included.. I watched Disney’s Tarzan over and over just for this song:
MP3: Phil Collins – You’ll Be In My Heart
Katy Perry this, Katy Perry that.. I feel people are neglecting one of her most genius songs:
MP3: Katy Perry – You’re So Gay
Also, just a quicky, because I know this will be a hit in the UK very soon and I just can’t get it out of my head, It’s MIA…
MP3: MIA – Paper Planes

I’ve been meaning to mention this guy for a while. If you like The Rocket Summer, check out this chap…
Known as ‘Kill Paradise‘, Nick Cocozzella has been kicking up a beat in his home town; Denver, Colorado USA since 2005. I’ve had some trouble labling his genre for my itunes… He’s not really what I would call electro and not quite power-pop but at the same time could be classed as either. His tracks vary quite vastly, but his vocals make him distinguishable… Well. I’m liking his sound, even if can’t be described easily… See what you guys think…
MP3: Kill Paradise – All For You
Oh. By the way, we need feedback! We want to know if you guys want a shoutbox/cbox. It is basically a column for people to leave comments… Let us know by checking out the poll on the right and voting –>

Lock up your son’s and daughter’s because Jon Jones And The Beatniks Movement are in town. Actually lock up anyone you have a passing interest for, as these boys take no prisoners!

Hailing from Bradford, this young haired motley crew play a bleak blend of garage/stoner rock with some vicious punk undertones. Suffice to say their not going to be the next darling cover stars of NME. But they might just be your new favourite band.
Recently released E.P “Engine Rooms” featured some of the band’s strongest material so far in their relatively short career. It’s fast, slow, heavy, quiet, but always pretty weird. The bass is deep, guitars are manic and the drums intense. Front man “Irish Joe” has a pretty distinctive voice, but that said it is quite similar to that of Guy McKnight from Eighties Matchbox B-Line Disaster. Not that that’s a bad thing. There’s also a link to The Horrors, particularly with their ghoulish sounds, but JJ & The BM are nowhere near as commercially accessible as the London based band.
Released on the gloriously named “Fuck Off Records”, the E.P “Engine Rooms” is available now. It’s a refreshing change to hear a band experimenting and not caring what anyone else thinks of them. The band has a few gig dates scattered around various places up North, check their myspace for more information.

I was notified this morning of the death of someone very well known here in the souths community. A nineteen year old trials rider; Nick Hobbs. Much loved by family and friends sadly died last night in an accident involving his motorcycle and a car.
I don’t feel there are any words that I can write that will suffice.
May I only write that our thoughts are with his friends and family at this terrible time and that I will ask anyone reading this to take two minutes.. two minutes to turn off the music and spare thought.. in prayer or just silent respect, to a boy who will be dearly missed and was taken prematurely.
RIP Nick Hobbs.

Hey all,
I have made a recent discovery; apparently the bypass isn’t the only thing that’s happened in Newbury in the past ten years. Apparently in more recent years something has been growing in a bedroom in Berkshire… with a keyboard… Something a little more environmentally friendly than tearing up some 360 acres of land.. That is, the ironically named; The Good Natured.
The Good Natured is one pretty lady from Newbury, UK. Donning all but her grandmothers old keyboard, she’s creating a wave in the music blogging world. With her EP; Warriors (set to be released on the 6th October.. hurray for picking my birthday) Sarah McIntosh really delivers.
I love this girl. She’s a well earned break for the music industry… we needed her. With vocals somewhere between Kate Nash and Adele, she is sure to find a place in the hearts of British music fans. With the industry’s callings aside, Sarah pushes all the right buttons. A busty electro vibe and classy vintage image, she’s kicking holes popular music and making way for a new kind of eletro-thrusted sound. Let The Good Natured make your feet move and tempt you to sing along badly. Catch yourself continuing to hum her tunes long after you’ve heard them… enjoy it. She’s going to be around for a while.
Feed your hungry music-hungry selves with her MP3 below;

Hey guys, sorry for missing last week but hopefully this week makes up for it!
To be honest, I’ve been a little hard-pressed lately to find American bands I’m really digging. They all seem to be Canadian, dammit.

So after much prodding and poking around, I’ve settled on Ima Robot from Los Angeles, who not only have a catchy name, but have catchy music. Despite the fact that Ima Robot’s music competes well with the “best” of indie dance rock like Hot Hot Heat and Louis XIV, for some reason, those bands caught on but Ima Robot never really did. Their upcoming album, still untitled and slated to be self-released, boasts their new single, “Sail With Me,” which features calm xylophone-esque rhythms and energetic hooting and hollering that have long been staples of Ima Robot. In “Gangster,” the band begins sounding more like Louis XIV backed with retro instrumentation. Their vocalist Alex Ebert is charismatic and erratic in his delivery when he is least hampered by convention, and the band manages time and again to make distinctive music.
To throw it back a little, their 2003 self-titled release is also constantly on rotation in my CD player, five years later. “Philosophofee” and “Dirty Life” (especially “Dirty Life”) are ever at the top of the list. So if their MySpace doesn’t impress you, don’t write them off just yet and get yourself some of their back catalog.
Listen to some new tracks on their MySpace page.
