May Update!

Wednesday, May 27th, 2009

Sorry that it’s been slightly inactive recently. Luu is busy at the moment and I have been busy with a few other projects so I thought I’d give a quick round up of some things from the last month!

Udy

Firstly I’d like to mention local DJ and producer, Udy. A seemingly busy man he is resident DJ at some local nights around the Portsmouth/Southsea area and shows some huge potential with his own music. He is a resident at “Kiss My Bass”, nominated recently for Best Club Night, and the website turned blog (& podcast) is updated often by the man himself - some great mixes and other musical info can be found here. Another port of call is udymusic.co.uk, which showcases Udy’s recent productions and is well worth a listen and download - some great tracks. Another fan of French electro, house and dubstep his mixes are also a very entertaining hour of listening!

    Check him out!

MP3: Mix - Pop n Bass 3
MP3: Udy - “Hustlin”

Also on the horizon is the next installment of the Kitsuné Maison Compilation Series - Kitsuné Maison Compilation 7. Tagged “the lucky one….”, and featuring tracks from Two Door Cinema Club, La Roux, Beni and autoKratz it proves to be another good one. It is due for release on 1 June. You can check out a teaser video here.

Another artist I feel like I have to mention is La Roux. After writing about them in November they have picked up more and more interest and after the Single “In For The Kill”, made it’s way to No. 2 in the UK it is hard to go anywhere without hearing about them! A surely amazing duo, and are set to release the self-titled debut album on 30 June.

Whichever way you look at it the next month or so, I’m sure, will be a great one for new music. Get listening!

Fist of God (MSTRKRFT Album Review)

Thursday, April 23rd, 2009

Fist of God (2009)

Finally, after a 3 year hiatus MSTRKRFT release their second album, Fist of God! I loved their first album, The Looks - it is probably one of my most played albums of the last couple of years and combined all of the ferocity I had grown accustomed to from Keeler (formerly of Death From Above 1979) with a new robotic, dancy edge.

Their new albums features many collaborations, including songs with Gostface Killah, N.O.R.E. and Lil’ Mo and they have combined to produce some very good tracks. A very powerful, synthesizer punch comes from nearly every track as per most MSTRKRFT songs, however there are some more lyrical songs, and a couple of more melodic additions. Stand out songs for me are, Bounce, Click Click It Ain’t Love and Heartbreaker, but it all is a great listen. The only problem I have with the album is that I am slightly unsure of the direction they are heading - there are elements of rock, electro, house and rap and they all come together with a slight element of confusion. I feel that it’s predecessor, The Looks remains the better album, however they both deserve a purchase - Brilliant!

7.8/10

Sorry kids

Wednesday, January 7th, 2009

Sorry about the blog being down for a couple of hours today.
Hope it wasn’t too disruptive.

I can now unveil why my posts are a little few and far between at the moment; Eyemaylisten is going visual! That’s right kids.. we are going to be on tv! Well.. our local university’s tv. But you will soon be able to catch up with all the episodes online! We are just in the process of editing the first episode, so hopefully I will be able to give you a little bit more information once the whole thing has gone live… but keep your eyes peeled as they say!

Stuart has been doing a spiffing job in my absence, so a hats off and little round of applause is in order… ^_^

The album was recorded at Planet Roc Studios in Berlin and produced by Chris Zane (Les Savy Fav, The Walkmen, Passion Pit).

I am pleased to announce I may share the full tracklisting with you:

Stop Press; Drive A, New single & Album!

Wednesday, November 5th, 2008

Good old friends of Eyemaylisten, Drive A, have new material and we are very happy to shout about it. They are back with a great new look and have certianly matured; I can almost perv on them now ^_^.

Their new single; ‘Are You Blind’ is worth checking out. It’s a stretch out of the sound we are used to hearing from them, their sound has developed and we’re liking the vibrations! It’s less rocky and it seems they are embracing a more punkesque vibe. It’s definately addictive. The new album; ‘Loss Of Desire’ is due for release in February 2008 and we will most certainly be giving you a full review when it comes around - I can’t wait. They are very talented lads.

Watch the short video they filmed for us back in June!

A Silence For Nick Hobbs.

Monday, August 25th, 2008

I was notified this morning of the death of someone very well known here in the souths community. A nineteen year old trials rider; Nick Hobbs. Much loved by family and friends sadly died last night in an accident involving his motorcycle and a car.

I don’t feel there are any words that I can write that will suffice.

May I only write that our thoughts are with his friends and family at this terrible time and that I will ask anyone reading this to take two minutes.. two minutes to turn off the music and spare thought.. in prayer or just silent respect, to a boy who will be dearly missed and was taken prematurely.

RIP Nick Hobbs.

Hoo-rar-har! Facebook Fan Page!

Friday, August 22nd, 2008

It has come to my recent attention that we have a fan page.. on Facebook. I wasn’t even aware it existed.. the whole thing has pretty much confused me.. but either way; confused or not, click here to become a fan!

How exciting! We are also setting up a Flickr account for Eyemaylisten, we already have a group but we seem to nly use it to pass pictures between one another as apposed to actually using it as a group… So will let you know when that’s got a few more pictures up!

As is, check us out and add us as friends in other places, (we are slowing taking over the world wide web)..

Youtube - Subscribe!
Myspace - We love getting loads of adds!
Last.Fm Group - Could do with a few more members, fairly new to last.fm!

Facebook Group and also Facebook Fan page - If you’re a Facebook fanatic, these are both handy, the fan page has an RSS feed directly from the blog so you get updates when we post.. straight to your Facebook! :)

Hope these all come in handy :)
