drmanhattan: American Band You Should Know

I’ve always had a propensity to like bands that “keep it real” — those who are honest with themselves and whose honesty shows through in their music. For example, The Killers (although I think their music is okay) are not a band that keeps it real. The lead singer sings in a quasi-British accent for god’s sake. He’s from Las Vegas.
drmanhattan (and yes, their name is written just like that) is a band that seems to keep it real. If their press photo above is any indicator, their brand of electro-synth-pop is unpredictable and energetic, just like them. Despite the fact that their best-known track is “Chomper, Chomper,” is a delightful keyboard-slamming dance track, drmanhattan’s latest album is a diverse hodgepodge of catchiness. For the summer, the band will be touring on the traveling ‘punk rock’ circus known as Warped Tour. They will also, upon their own request, be preforming at the wedding of one of Nick’s long-time friends.. after having requested to do so even before the wedding!
